OUR STORIES
"Voices of Hope is my safe place. It's my place when I have nowhere else to go. It's a place where I always belong. They welcomed me completely and went out of their way to tell me that I am loved, I am wanted, I am worth it, and my story MATTERS! Voices of Hope gave me the courage to share my story openly and proudly."

"I've learned so much through volunteering with Voices of Hope. The biggest lesson I've learned is to love people as much as I can. I get back ten times what I put in. That shows through all of the friends I've made doing Telephone Recovery Support, the hands I've gotten to shake, and the smiles I've gotten to share."

“I came to Voices of Hope in early recovery, looking for help after losing my boyfriend to overdose. I never felt like I belonged in any traditional recovery community, but from the moment I walked in the door I felt nothing but unconditional support, and it was totally life changing and life saving."

“Having had a child that was homeless in three different cities while he struggled to find recovery from his substance use problems, I have come to appreciate the difficulty that a person who is homeless faces each and every day of their life. Being able to give back in some small way to that community by volunteering with the Mobile Program at VOH, not only increases my compassion for those individuals, but it fills me up spiritually. Having had a child whose life has been transformed and restored allows me to live my mantra: To whom much is given, much is required. Thank you, Voices of Hope, for giving me the opportunity to be part of the solution for our homeless community."

"MARA [Medication Assisted Recovery Anonymous] offers support to those who don't 'fit' the traditional anonymous programs. MARA is important to me because its an avenue to reach individuals who feel scrutinized and criticized and to break down barriers of misconception and stigma. MARA is recovery by any means necessary and that is why MARA is important to me!"

"When I heard about TRS, I knew it was something that I wanted to do. As a volunteer, you get to help people overcome hardships and share in their joys and accomplishments, both big and small. It has been so rewarding to volunteer at an organization that makes a real difference in people’s lives."

"A woman we met out on the van came into the Broadway office last week and asked for Narcan. I saw her later in the week and she let me know that she had saved her 22 year old daughter's life with the Narcan we provided."

"My son lost his battle to addiction last year. Hearing stories of recovery at Voices of Hope gives me the connection I need with people who are struggling. People change when they feel heard, understood and loved. That's what Voices of Hope offers."

"Telephone recovery support has helped me in ways that I can hardly explain in words. The fact that someone is there to call and check up means a lot. I've had a rough time in recovery the past few months, and the people at VOH have been there for me, pretty much every step of the way. Just having someone to talk to makes all the difference sometimes. And, even when things are going well, they are still there for me...helping me reach the personal goals that I set for myself."
